Makos Meets was created for the Monte Sano Makos swim team to help fellow parents keep track of their kids during meets.

Two developers and I sought to improve the experience of swim meets by providing families with easy access to live schedules and results throughout each meet. We created a mobile web app that could ingest the swim sheet file provided each week, integrate with various timekeeping systems, parse all the data, then serve it up in a user-friendly way.

Original Prototype
Using Cursor, an AI-assisted development tool, the developers got an unstyled functional prototype working in the lead-up to the first meet.
Makos Meets, wireframe and design progression
Early Wireframes and Design Progression
Using Figma, I created UI designs, starting with wireframes, testing ideas, finalizing colors and typography, and progressing to a final design.

Once the design was finalized, I used Cursor to refactor and restyle the initial prototype to match the Figma mocks.

Makos Meets was launched on the first home meet of the 2025 season to overwhelmingly positive feedback. Each meet presented and opportunity to collect feedback and ideas from users. Over the course of the season we continued to develop the app, adding features and improving UX.

To supplement the in-pocket web app, we also utilized the underlying code to provide a TV view, displaying the same live data on a TV display that was purchased and installed for attendees. This TV view was again designed in Figma and coded in Cursor.
Makos Meets, light vs dark mode
Dark Mode
Makos Meets is still under active development, with the possibility of commercialization. Among the features and improvements slated for next year is a dark mode to provide more comfortable viewing after the sun goes down.
While the swim season may be over, Makos Meets can be viewed at makosmeets.com.
